David Harmer Moves on to Battle McNerney

In one of CD-11′s hardest fought primaries in it’s history, David Harmer has come out victorious coming in first place in the East Bay and a strong second place in the valley.

Brad Goehring, a valley resident, won San Joaquin county by a healthy 12% margin but it wasn’t enough.  Harmer had strong name recognition in the East Bay after running for Congress in a special election last year against John Garamendi.

Both David Harmer and Brad Goehring were probably equally hurt by the third and fourth place vote getters, Tony Amador and Elizabeth Emken who roughly brought in 19% and 16%.

David Harmer now faces an uphill battle trying to unseat McNerney who is a resident of the 11th Congressional District and Harmer is not.  You can bet that McNerney will use this to his advantage as David Harmer tried to in his race against Garamendi.

It was a hard fought campaign and hopefully most of the accusations have been tossed out there and answered in the primary and will not have to be brought up in the general but we’ll have to wait and see.

Congratulations to David and Elayne Harmer and the Harmer for Congress campaign.

Nice follow up! Will Brad be endorsing David Harmer soon?

Bryce I have no idea. I do not speak for Brad and haven’t talked to him at all today.

Actually, I don’t remember David making a big deal of Garamendi’s residence. I do remember David’s supporters complaining a lot about it, but it seemed to me that, because it is legal, David just ignored it, as McNerney should this time around. But he won’t.

    Joan,

He had it in his mailers/flyers about Garamendi being a carpetbagger.
